The Global Travel & Tourism Summit

The Global Travel & Tourism Summit is the highest level gathering of Travel & Tourism leaders in the world. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, the Summit will take place in Dubai on 20-22 April 2008.

THE PARTNERSHIP

The World Travel & Tourism Council, the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Jumeirah Group and Nakheel, have formed a dynamic public and private sector partnership to plan, prepare and host the Global Travel & Tourism Summit taking place in Dubai.

THE FORUM FOR CHANGE

Set in a unique format – The Round - the Summit will engage invited participants in real dialogue on issues that affect the industry and the world at large. Invited participants include the Chairs and Chief Executives of the Travel & Tourism industry, heads of government, international experts and the global media.

THE PURPOSE

Travel & Tourism is an inseparable part of the world in which we live, making a vital contribution to the world's economy, as well as to the quality of life of its citizens. This industry accounts for more than 10 per cent of global GDP and 8 per cent of total employment worldwide.

Leaders of this industry recognize that the 21st century is bringing major new challenges and opportunities – not only for business, but also for the world in which Travel & Tourism forms such a crucial part. The Summit will address these issues and will explore the world's best examples of responsible Travel & Tourism.
